Solar permits, filed and tracked to final.
Rooftop solar usually means two permits, a structural question, and a utility running on its own clock. We file the permit side, answer the reviewer, and book the inspections so your crews keep installing.
What jurisdictions usually ask for
- An electrical permit for the array, inverter and interconnection, and in most places a building permit or structural review for the roof attachment.
- A plan set with the site plan, roof layout, single-line diagram and equipment spec sheets, plus a structural letter where the jurisdiction asks for one.
- Rapid shutdown for rooftop arrays, required under NEC 690.12, shown on the plans and labeled on site.
- Instant automated approval through SolarAPP+ in participating jurisdictions, when the system qualifies.
- A separate interconnection application with the utility, which usually wants the permit finaled before it gives permission to operate.
Requirements vary by city and county, so we confirm them for each job during jurisdiction research, before we file.
Where these permits stall
- The scope on the application does not match the plan set, for example a battery on the plans that is missing from the permit.
- The installer is not registered with that city yet, which many jurisdictions require before they will issue.
- Homeowner or parcel information that does not match the city's records.
- Unreadable or incomplete attachments, which earn a correction and another week.
What we do on these jobs
- Check contractor registration in the jurisdiction before filing, and handle it if it is missing.
- File through SolarAPP+ wherever the city participates, for same-day issuance.
- Answer every plan-check comment, however many rounds it takes, at no extra charge.
- Plan sets and PE stamps for systems up to 30 kW are available as separate line items.
